Chelsea’s CEO prevented Azpilicueta’s transfer to Barcelona

The CEO of Chelsea Todd Boehly has prevented Cesar Azpilicueta from leaving for Barcelona. According to reports, Azpilicueta and the Blaugurana have personal conditions in place, but Chelsea is unwilling to let the Spaniard go.

Azpilicueta’s transfer to the Spanish powerhouses is thought to cost roughly £3 million, compared to Chelsea’s asking of more than £10 million.

But according to The Times, Boehly wants to keep the Spanish defender in west London for the forthcoming campaign.

The 32-year-contract old’s at Stamford Bridge was set to expire in the summer, but after he made 35 appearances the previous season, an automatic one-year extension was triggered in March.
