Cristiano Ronaldo has left Manchester United with mutual agreement, according to the Premier League powerhouse.

On Tuesday, United announced the announcement in a statement posted to their website.

The announcement follows Ronaldo’s two-part TalkTV interview from last week.

Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Manchester United with immediate effect, according to a statement from the club.

“The team wishes him and his family the best of luck in the future and expresses gratitude for his enormous contribution over the course of his two stints at Old Trafford, where he scored 145 goals in 346 games.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains committed to building on the team’s success under Erik ten Hag and collaborating to produce success on the field,” the statement reads.

During Ronaldo’s interview, United discussed the idea of ending the player’s contract early without having to pay any of the £16 million he is expected to make by June 2023.

With his criticism of the club’s US owners, manager Erik ten Hag, the club’s facilities, his teammates, and former Red Devils players Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville, United believed Ronaldo had broken the terms of his contract.

The news was released barely two days before Portugal’s opening World Cup match versus Black Stars in Qatar.
