Pinnick Officially Transfers NFF To Gusau

It was a momentous occasion on Tuesday morning at the Nigeria Football Federation office as FIFA Council Member and Member of the CAF Executive Committee, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, officially handed over the reins of the NFF to Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the victor of the presidential election at the September 30 Elective General Assembly held in Benin City.

Gusau, Board Members Yusuf Ahmed Fresh, Aisha Falode, Rt. Hon. Essien Udofot, and Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, the General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the Deputy General Secretary Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, other members of Management, and NFF Staff all gave Pinnick a standing ovation as he entered the NFF Conference Room at the Sunday Dankaro House. A friendly atmosphere prevailed.

Pinnick urged management and staff to support Gusau and the new board as vigorously as they had supported him and his team. He also emphasized that he was still a member of the system and would continue to be available to provide guidance and suggestions as needed.

“I want to thank you for your commitment and support over the last eight years, as well as the encouragement and backing I received from the Board. I give God the glory since it was an incredible experience from beginning to end. Football comes out on top. I humbly beg for your support of the new team and the pardon of anyone I may have inadvertently upset in any manner.

“The General Secretary is a strong person, an excellent administrator, and a kind human being. He is a man who can support the new board. I have no doubt that they would help Nigeria Football reach new heights when paired with other management and staff members.

I am theoretically in control of 22 nations, including Nigeria, as a member of the FIFA Council. To defend and advance the interests of Nigeria, I would always do my best. My administration contributed everything it had to fund the NFF and national teams’ programs and discipline the national teams. But I believe the new administration will outperform all we did. The new President is an inventive, dynamic, and humble thinker.

In his answer, the NFF President praised the historic occasion and said that the excellent rapport that had been developed between the members of the previous board within eight years was reflected in the cordial interaction between the old and new guards.

“We promise Pinnick that whenever the need arises, we will get in touch with you for your counsel and support. We wish you success in all of your responsibilities and endeavors at FIFA and CAF.
