CHAN 2024: Udeze Blasts Super Eagles B Players For Prioritizing Scouts Over Teamwork

Ifeanyi Udeze, a former Nigerian international, has charged that Super Eagles B squad players are playing individual football in an attempt to market themselves to overseas teams.

Super Eagles B lost 1-0 to champions Senegal in Group D to begin their campaign at this year’s CHAN.

Christian Gomis gave the Teranga Lions a 1-0 lead with 15 minutes remaining in the game after a defensive blunder.

Following the 1-1 early kickoff between Sudan and Congo, the loss puts the Super Eagles B at the bottom of the group.

Udeze responded to the loss by telling the players that because they are in a tournament, they should play more together.

“Now that this is a tournament, Eric Chelle needs to act like a psychologist and tell the players to stop playing individual football and instead play as a team,” Udeze stated on Brila FM. “They view this competition as a chance to market themselves to international clubs.”

But if Eric Chelle’s team does the right thing, the 2002 FIFA World Cup star said he hopes they would advance from the group stage.

“They need to play more as a team and stop playing individual football,” he continued. “I think Eric Chelle also saw the mistakes, but I still have hope they will come out of the group.”

When they play Sudan on August 12, the Super Eagles B will be looking to recover.
