Inter has finally regained a spark after a time of turmoil following their lethargic Champions League departure. They defeated Roma 5-2 and then won a fantastic Serie A match at Stadio Sinigaglia.

The Nerazzurri valiantly overcame Como 4-3 after trailing by two goals until well before halftime, while their nearest competitors, city rivals AC Milan and defending champions Napoli, both lost points.

With only six rounds left, their victory increased their lead at the top to nine. Before their opponents play again this weekend, they can expand that margin to double digits.

Cristian Chivu’s debut season could even end with a domestic double; Inter’s Coppa Italia semi-final versus Como will take place in Milan next week. It would take a dramatic collapse for Inter to fail.

The Nerazzurri are now undefeated in nine league games at San Siro and have scored 75 goals in Serie A this season, at least 19 more than any other team.

With Cagliari scheduled to visit before Como comes to town, Chivu and company may make significant strides toward their goals by winning back-to-back home games.

Inter are unbeaten in 12 encounters with the Rossoblu, including seven victories in the previous eight, following a 2-0 triumph on the road earlier this season. They will start as heavy favorites.

In fact, Cagliari has historically struggled against Inter at San Siro, giving up an average of 2.2 goals per game while attempting and failing to keep a clean sheet on 26 different occasions over the last few decades.

Even after ending their disastrous eight-match losing streak, expectations may be low before the Sardinian team departs for Italy’s second city.

Fabio Pisacane’s team was in grave danger after gaining just two points throughout that time, but last week they improved their chances of survival with a vital 1-0 victory over Cremonese.

Although safety is far from guaranteed, the Rossoblu defeated their relegation rivals and climbed six points clear of the drop zone thanks to the lone goal from Inter loanee Sebastiano Esposito.

Now that they have lost three of their past four away games and have not kept a clean sheet in the previous nine, it would be extremely beneficial to win against the league leaders.
