Legendary Newcastle player Alan Shearer has voiced his displeasure with the team’s lacklustre summer transfer activity.
In their most recent setback this summer, Newcastle appears to have lost out to Manchester United in their attempt to sign Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
Shearer responded to the news by criticising the Magpies’ failure to sign top targets in an interview with Betfair, particularly in light of the disparate seasons that both teams had.
“It seems that Benjamin Sesko had a choice between Newcastle and Manchester United. One that had a terrible season, finished in 15th place, and didn’t win anything, and one that won a trophy the previous year and is currently participating in the Champions League.
“I am aware that, although not exactly a great football team right now, Man United is a massive football club. I understand that. I know what it is. According to all accounts, he would love to join Manchester United.
“Yale has disappointed me once more. It appears that they will miss out on another target, as I mentioned approximately a week ago. It appears that Newcastle has had a terrible window.”
