In the 36th minute of their match in Group B of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Weah gave the USA the lead.
Gareth Bale’s penalty kick eight minutes from time helped Wales come back to tie the game.
As the first son of a past Ballon d’Or winner to play and score at the FIFA World Cup, Weah made history.

Weah told reporters after the game, “Christian threw me a great ball and it was up to me to complete it.”
“It seemed like we had a lot of energy and momentum in the first half,” … when the second half began, we turned the volume down as Wales cranked it up. They began to push us and had the majority of the ball, which is what I believe ultimately harmed us the most.
