Monaco and Nice have expressed interest in Montpellier’s Elye Wahi.

According to RMC Sport, OGC Nice and AS Monaco are interested in Montpellier striker Elye Wahi (20), despite Les Héraultis are not looking to transfer the player this winter.

Les Aiglons have been looking for a striker since the start of the transfer window. The club is eager to sell Andy Delort, who is expected to join FC Nantes, and while that deal is nearly complete, Nice wants to ensure another forward comes through the door first.

Terem Moffi is a primary priority for the club, and according to RMC Sport, Nice has increased their offer for the FC Lorient player. However, the team is also interested in Wahi, who has had a fantastic season despite the club’s difficulties. He has seven goals in 18 games, making him one of the most prolific U21 players.

If Nice decides to pursue a trade for Wahi, they will face stiff competition. Monaco, as well as a number of unknown English and German clubs, are also interested.

Wahi is not up for sale this winter, and Montpellier would only consider selling the player if a €30 million bid came in—that would be a record transfer fee for the team.
