Jan Paul van Hecke, a defender for Brighton and Hove Albion, admitted to Blackburn Rovers Director of Football Gregg Broughton that he wanted to remain at the Amex Stadium this summer and compete for a spot.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a great deal of support from Blackburn fans during his time at Ewood Park in the previous campaign. He bounced back well from his red card against Fulham in November to establish himself as a beloved figure in Lancashire.

Along with Scott Wharton and Darragh Lenihan, he was almost able to lead Rovers into the play-offs against all odds, but the Lancashire team was unable to take advantage of a favorable run of matches in the closing weeks of the season.
