Gabriel Martinelli of Arsenal has been called up by Brazil boss Tite for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Unexpectedly, Martinelli was left off of Brazil’s roster for their most recent international friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia. Many people thought that put an end to his hopes of attending the World Cup.
The 21-year-old forward was nevertheless included in Tite’s final Qatari squad. The Brazil coach defended his choice and lauded Martinelli’s offensive prowess and advantages in a 1v1 contest. During the news conference, Tite said:
