Porto vs. Rio Ave Match Preview and Prediction

Perfect At Estadio do Dragao, Porto vs on Rio Ave takes on in their return to Primeira Liga play on Saturday, looking for their third consecutive win.

After being promoted to head coach, Vítor Bruno has had a positive start to his career. In gameweek three, he will look to build on his one victory against a team that has only defeated them once in their previous ten meetings.

Ivan Jaime (16) and Wanderson Galeno (25) gave Porto the lead in the first half-hour of the match, and it took just 25 minutes to effectively seal their second match of the season at Santa Clara.

Despite Adriano Firmino’s dismissal with 25 of the 90 minutes remaining, things remained that way for the Dragons as Bruno’s team opted for control over expanding their lead.

The 30-time winners are undefeated going into their third league game of 2024–25 as a result of their gameweek two triumph, having scored five goals and maintaining a string of clean sheets.

Porto, one of five teams—along with Sporting, Famalicao, Moreirense, and Vitoria—wants to build on their winning start this Saturday. They hope to win a third straight game after victories against Gil Vicente, Santa Clara, and Sporting (the Portuguese Super Cup).

They want to avoid that outcome this weekend, though, since they were consigned to a scoreless draw in the similar fixture last season.

Rio Ave. will look to display the fortitude that allowed them to hold the Blue and Whites to a scoreless draw at the Dragao in February in spite of having to block 24 shots.

After leading Rioavistas to a 1-0 victory over Farense last week, Luis Freire, who organized the point few months ago, is still in the lineup.

Just after the interval, Patrick William scored the game’s lone goal to secure victory for Freire’s team and help them recover from their opening-day loss at Sporting despite being outshot on home ground.

The Vila do Conde team will face a formidable road opponent once more as they want to replicate their season-long matchup with the previous contender.

With Rio Ave losing six of the previous ten meetings, including two of the most recent three (one tie), that is easier said than done considering the history of this match.
