2022 U-17 WWC: ‘How Nigeria Can Recover From Germany’ – Former Flamingos Coach, Nikyu

Bala Nikyu, a former Flamingos head coach, has provided advice on how the current squad can bounce back after Tuesday’s defeat to Germany at the U-17 women’s World Cup taking place in India.

The Flamingos lost their opening Group B game 2-1 despite leading at the half 1-0.

When they play New Zealand on Friday for their second group game, the team will look to recover from the defeat.

Following a 3-1 loss to Chile on Tuesday, New Zealand lost their opening game in the group.

And in response to the loss, Nikyu, who guided the Flamingos to the U-17 women’s World Cup in 2014 and 2016, advised the current squad to have faith in their ability to recover.

“If care is not taken they may become anxious for the German team to equalize and even go ahead and win,” Nikyu remarked on Brila FM.

“And the following game they’ll be planning what will happen to us that might instill terror if we lose our next game.

However, in my opinion, the only way to save them is for them to believe in their own abilities.
