Pau: I have no intention of leaving Villarreal.

Pau Torres, a defender for Villarreal, has denied rumors that he intends to quit the club for Manchester United.

According to Cadena Ser, the Spanish international’s representatives are ready to sign a contract after reaching an agreement with the player and both teams.

“Right now there is nothing at all, there is talk of many things like every year,” he told AS. “I have peace of mind that I will be where they want me, at the club of my life, and I have this opportunity right now that I appreciate very highly.”

“Right now, there is nothing; the only thing I have is the Villarreal offer, so I am extremely relaxed.”

After numerous impressive performances at El Submarino Amarillo, he attracted the curiosity of Europe’s elite teams, but that interest is thought to have heightened following Villarreal’s remarkable run to the Champions League semifinals.

Pau’s International Career

On 4 October 2019, Torres was called up for the first time by Robert Moreno for UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against Norway and Sweden. He didn’t make his debut until November 15th, when he scored in a 7–0 defeat of Malta for the already qualified hosts, just a minute after replacing Sergio Ramos; Dani Olmo also scored on his first cap in that game, marking the first time two Spaniards had done so in exactly 30 years.

Torres was named to Luis Enrique’s finals roster of 24 players. He was also a member of the Olympic team that earned a silver medal in the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
