Following England’s disappointing 1-0 loss to the Azzurri in Friday’s UEFA Nations League match, Bukayo Saka was made fun of by some Italian media outlets.

Italy’s news media According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Saka was still visibly shocked by Giorgio Chiellini’s foul in the Euro 2020 championship game.

The key penalty that Italy needed to win the European championship at Wembley was missed by the Arsenal star.

On Friday, Saka played 72 minutes for England before Gareth Southgate decided to replace him with Luke Shaw.

According to Gazzetta, Naija Saka was the most underwhelming player on the field, giving him a rating of 4.5/10, the lowest of any English or Italian star.

“One would want to tell him: ‘No worries Saka, Chiellini is no longer here,'” Italian journalist Fabio Licari wrote. The fact that Southgate kept him on the field for an additional 72 minutes made him even more startled and a ghost on the left flank.

Licari was making a reference to Chiellini’s late tactical foul in the England vs. Italy Euro 2020 championship game. The Italian defender wrapped the shirt of the Arsenal star around his neck as Saka stormed over halfway in the Euro 2020 championship match.

The fact that only a yellow card was issued at the time when England fans had expected a red one caused a great deal of uproar.

Before England’s Friday night loss to Italy, Saka ultimately missed the crucial penalty, but he still won the first-ever England Men’s Player of the Year award. It followed an outstanding season for both his club and his country.
