Marko – Alpha Tauri nearly became the best Red Bull team

According to Dr. Helmut Marko, the eventual Alpha Tauri team was a contender to be Red Bull’s top Formula 1 team.

The first race contested at the Red Bull Ring since the passing of team founder Dietrich Mateschitz late last year will be the Austrian GP this coming weekend.

“We come with the 100th Red Bull victory,” said Marko, an 80-year-old Austrian. “He would have been overjoyed.

Naturally, it’s unfortunate that he was unable to see it. Without him, the Austrian Grand Prix would also not exist.

No specific memorial to Mateschitz is planned, despite the fact that Marko and numerous other former drivers will take part in a demonstration of vintage F1 cars at the Spielberg circuit.

Not that I am aware of,” insisted Marko. Even if I’m not sure if he would be okay with it, everything should be for him.

But categorically, there is no Mateschitz curve or anything.

Even if Marko says that Mateschitz never actually had any dreams about the team’s present total supremacy, Red Bull’s achievements in Formula 1 are nonetheless noteworthy.

“No, that wasn’t the approach when we took over the relatively ailing Jaguar team,” he replied. Didi suggested that we strive to win a grand prix since it would be beneficial.

Red Bull Racing has now won 100 grand prix races. However, Marko argues that it is important to remember that Mateschitz’s second team, Toro Rosso at the time, won a race in 2008 with Sebastian Vettel at the wheel.

Marko explained the engine issue to ORF, an Austrian broadcaster, when Toro Rosso won at Monza. “We won thanks to the more potent Ferrari engine in our chassis.

But there were undoubtedly disputes inside the squad as to which was superior.
