OFFICIAL: Leno Signs Three-Years Contract With Fulham

German goalkeeper Bernd Leno signed a three-year contract with Fulham and left Arsenal. On Monday, Fulham posted a statement on their website announcing the transfer.

The announcement said, “The Club is thrilled to confirm the signing of Bernd Leno from Arsenal for an undisclosed price.

The 30-year-old goalie has reached an agreement on a three-year contract with a club option to extend it by an additional 12 months.

“Having progressed through the ranks at VfL Stuttgart, Leno joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan when he was 19 years old and quickly cemented himself as the club’s starting goalkeeper.

“Leno played at a level that belied his youth, becoming only the third goalie in Bundesliga history to collect clean sheets in his first three games, before breaking the record for the youngest goalkeeper to play in the Champions League shortly after.

“Shortly after, Leverkusen made the arrangement permanent, and Leno went on to have seven successful seasons at the BayArena, making 304 appearances and recording 100 clean sheets.

“The club’s worst finish in six of the seven seasons was sixth.

“His consistency in Germany persuaded Arsenal to sign Leno for a sum rumoured to be in excess of £20 million ahead of the 2018/19 season.”

“Leno soon replaced Petr Cech in goal, concluding his debut season with a Europa League runner-up medal before earning second in the club’s player of the season voting a year later.”

“He leaves the Emirates with plenty of Premier League experience, as well as 37 clean sheets in 125 games across all competitions.”

“It feels great to finally be here,” Leno stated to Fulham TV. I can’t wait to join the squad, practice with them, and play with them.
