Former Ajax and AC Milan striker Marco van Basten has urged Erik Ten Hag to sign Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech this summer.
Basten believes he would be a good fit for ten Hag at Old Trafford. In 2020, Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax, where he played under Ten Hag.
And, while on a TV show with the incoming United manager, Van Basten suggested that a reunion at Old Trafford might be a good idea.
“What comes to mind now is that I believe Ziyech, who already plays in England, could be a very good footballer for Erik at Manchester United,” the Dutch coach told Ziggo Sports.
Following Basten’s comments, ten Hag played down the possibility of the Red Devils signing Ziyech in a press conference on Monday.
“Of course, this was already the case at Ajax,” he explained.
“You take that in, and then you have to continue to work well with the dressing room and with people within the club.” You must conduct thorough analysis and make sound decisions.”
