Dybala beats Ronaldo’s jersey sales record one day after joining AS Roma

Just one day after signing with AS Roma, Paulo Dybala beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the most shirts sold in Italy. According to the Italian sports publication Corriere dello Sport (via Roma Press), the Argentine broke a record for jersey sales the day after the news of his signing.

Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the team last year, Dybala concluded his seven-year affiliation with Juventus this summer. The Argentine joined Jose Mourinho’s Roma team as a free agent and signed a three-year contract after waving farewell to the Old Lady.

Giallorossi supporters bought a lot of Dybala’s shirts in response to his being the club’s biggest acquisition in recent years. That boosted sales significantly and gained media attention in Italy.

Since Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Juventus in 2018, Corriere dello Sport has stated that more Dybala shirts have been purchased than Ronaldo’s. Though it is anticipated that the Italian periodical will do so in the upcoming days, no official figures have yet been published.

Could there be a matchup between Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo in Serie A the following year?

Between 2018 and 2021, Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo had a good time playing together at Juventus. During those three years, they won several trophies, including two Serie crowns, one Italian Cup, and two Italian Super Cups. However, is it possible that they will compete in the same category the following year?

Right now, Ronaldo’s future is uncertain. The Portuguese is set on leaving Manchester United this summer in order to play in the UEFA Champions League the following year. The player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has made many Serie A teams, including Inter Milan and Napoli, offers for his client.

If he joins one of the two teams, he would face his old teammate Paulo Dybala in the Italian top division next season. It remains to be unclear where the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will play his upcoming season.
